Recent research has shown that nearly a fifth of all jobseekers have been looking for work for over a year, this is very location&amp;nbsp; affected, but as Jobs.co.uk covers the whole of the UK it is sure to list a job that is relevant to you.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The situation in some regions is significantly worse with Yorkshire and Humber and Wales charting 9% and 10% increases respectively in the number of jobseekers searching for a job for over a year. In both regions, 21% of jobseekers have now spent more than 12 months looking for work.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;John Salt, director at totaljobs.com, explains why these regions have been so badly affected:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;quot;The collapse of heavy industries such as automotive manufacturing has hit areas like Yorkshire and Wales particularly hard. The long term, structural unemployment that resulted from these declining industries was partially reduced by huge investment in the public sector which created jobs, particularly for women. That investment is now running dry and job cuts are affecting areas across the country but places like Yorkshire and Wales have been less successful at attracting the private sector investment needed to create new jobs.&amp;quot;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;By contrast, the South West of England and Northern Ireland have seen much smaller rises in the number of jobseekers searching for work for over the past twelve months. Respectively, these regions have seen a 7% and 3% increases since last year, forcing up the number searching for over a year to 15% and 12%. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;These regions have been less severely hit by the cut in government spending and efficiency drives. The South West is one of the lowest areas of government spend per head in the country and well as relatively low levels of public sector employment compared to the rest of the UK, the areas is therefore, less likely to see wide scale redundancies. A new £10 million a year innovation fund will be launched aimed at the community and voluntary sector to help in the drive to help young people find jobs. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;The announcement follows pledges from over 100 large companies and tens of thousands of small companies around the country to offer work experience placements. &amp;nbsp;It is not retrospective and for those agency workers already on assignment, the 12 week qualifying period will start from the 1&lt;sup&gt;st&lt;/sup&gt; October 2011.&amp;nbsp; Part-time workers can accumulate the 12 week qualifying period even if they only work a few hours each week.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal"&gt;Agency Workers are already entitled to statutory protections including National Minimum Wage and working time regulations.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Proposed new rights for Agency Workers&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal"&gt;From 1&lt;sup&gt;st&lt;/sup&gt; recession.&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;The Office of National Statistics has confirmed that whilst manufacturing and the service sectors have preformed well, construction has fallen sharply.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;Manufacturing saw strong growth in export due to the weak pound and reached 1.1% however, construction - one of the worst hit areas in the last quarter of 2010 - was down by 4.7% at the start of 2011. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;Chancellor George Osborne said &amp;quot;It is good news that the British economy is growing.&amp;nbsp; It is particularly good news that manufacturing is growing so strongly, when we have had such an unbalanced economy in recent years and manufacturing has not done so well.&amp;quot;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&amp;quot;Jobs have been created since the New Year and government borrowing is down,&amp;quot; If time off is granted to Full-time staff, then part-time staff must receive the same on a pro-rata basis regardless of whether the public holiday falls on a non working day.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;Recent released reports suggest the cost of the extra Public Holiday will cost the British Economy around &amp;pound;3bn and we are scheduled to have another additional Public Holiday on 5&lt;sup&gt;th&lt;/sup&gt;
